HANDLOOM made from Bamboo and org cot
At last we have our organic cotton and bamboo mix. Its taken over two years to develop. and has been an interesting journey.
Why Bamboo? Well, like organic cotton, it hurts
noone in its growing as pesticides are not needed-
If you have ever grown bamboo, you will know
how it thrives. So that is our main aim, not to harm
people in the growing of the crop.
(Conventional cotton growing kills and damages thousands of people)
Why bamboo and cotton? Bamboo gives a
gentle lustre and wonderful handle.
Its absorbent and antifungal.
It has a slight give to it.
The organic cotton gives breathability and
strength. Next year we will be using
fair trade and organic cotton.
It's woven by hand, so gives jobs to the
weavers we support in Kerela, and the
fabric has the unique look of handloom,
with occasional small slubs, changes etc.
The Warp is organic cotton and the weft is bamboo. Its 110 to 120 wide
The fabric is finished by washing several times. This shrinks and tightens the fabric and softens it. The softening will continue as you wash it. It is generally colourfast. Black looses a little dye, best wash seperatley at first.
Do let us have your feedback on the fabric and please ask if you have any questions.
